The Seattle Phonographers Union is a collective of artists from various disciplines who record and present the sounds of the world in concerts, radio programs, CDs, and other events. We have performed in a variety of diverse and unique locations ranging from the intimate environments of abbeys and chapels to the vast reverberant chambers of aircraft hangers and abandoned nuclear silos and the ethereal experience of radio broadcast.

We have performed in series and festivals such as Earshot Jazz’s Jazz: the Second Century, The Arts & Nature festival (we performed outdoors next a pond for this one), the Seattle Improvised Music Festival, and the Occultural Music Festival. Our radio performances have been on both broadcast radio (Sonarchy on KEXP, and Weekday on KUOW) and internet radio (Hollow Earth Radio).

We perform by improvising in real time with unprocessed field recordings and each performance is specifically created for, and motivated by, the location.
